The wait is over. The popular manga I Want to End This Love Game (Aishiteru Game or Owarasetai) by Yūki Dōmoto will receive an anime adaptation, as announced by Shogakukan last Thursday. This news has sparked euphoria among fans of the rom-com genre, who are now eagerly awaiting to see this story come to life.
What's the Premise About?
Yukiya Asagi and Miku Sakura are two childhood friends who have been playing a peculiar game to embarrass each other – saying “I Love You” – for years. What started as a playful way to tease each other might be hiding deeper romantic feelings between these two. As they enter high school, will both of them overcome their hesitation and admit their true feelings before this "game" ends?
Dōmoto celebrated this exciting news with a special illustration posted on his X/Twitter account (formerly known as Twitter), which quickly went viral and generated even more enthusiasm among fans.

This manga was initially launched on Sunday Webry in 2021, captivating readers with its blend of humor, awkward situations, and the sweet development of a relationship between friends. Six volumes have been published so far, with the sixth released in April 2024. The seventh volume is scheduled for release on June 18, 2025, demonstrating its constant growth in popularity and reaffirming its status as a favorite within the genre.
Viz Media already holds the English rights to the manga and describes the first installment as follows:
