The Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City
The story takes place in Fuyuki City, an ordinary Japanese town. Unknown to society, a deadly war has been unfolding there. Seven sorcerers, known as "Masters," summon powerful familiars called "Servants." They all fight each other until only one remains. The last one standing is said to attain the Holy Grail, which will grant them a wish. Only a few know when this war began or what the Holy Grail truly is, but the conflict was about to start again this year.
The main character is Emiya Shirou. He lost his parents in a fire and was adopted by a man who called himself a sorcerer. Admiring his stepfather, Shirou trained to become a sorcerer himself. However, he had no natural talent and could barely use one type of sorcery. His stepfather has since passed away, and Shirou is now a sorcerer with very limited skills or knowledge. He becomes involved in the Holy Grail War when he accidentally summons Saber, who is said to be the strongest Servant of all.
