The highly anticipated adaptation of the dark fantasy manga “Clevatess” is generating significant buzz, and the recent third trailer has amplified the enthusiasm even further. Scheduled for release on July 2, 2025, this series promises to be a visually stunning and emotionally charged spectacle for anime and dark fantasy fans alike.
The news was revealed through the official “Clevatess” website, which also confirmed a crucial detail: the first episode will be an extended premiere lasting one hour! This indicates that Lay-duce, the animation studio behind the project, aims to make a strong first impression. This studio is known for its high-quality animation and detailed character designs, so fans can expect a visually impressive adaptation of Iwahara’s work.
However, the most talked-about news is the participation of acclaimed singer Ellie Goulding, who will perform the closing theme “Destiny,” a musical piece created specifically for the series.
The British artist, recognized for her talent and worldwide success ("Lights," number one on the UK charts), becomes the first Western singer to perform a thematic song for a Japanese anime series. In the video message she herself recorded, visible on KADOKAWA's official YouTube channel, Goulding expresses her enthusiasm for being part of this project, further underscoring the importance and global reach of the anime "Clevatess."

Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Blazar) directs the series, while Keigo Koyanagi (Brave Bang Bravern!) is responsible for the series composition. Soichiro Sako (Buddy Daddies) is in charge of character design and Nobuaki Nobusawa (Mr. Villain's Day Off) composes the original music. This combination of talents promises a visually impactful adaptation of the manga, capturing the dark and fantastic essence of Yuji Iwahara’s original work.
“Clevatess,” originally published on LINE Manga in August 2020, has gained a dedicated fanbase. The series is currently available in seven volumes on the vertical web platform, with Media Factory publishing horizontal compilations in six volumes. The story, based on the work of Yuji Iwahara, revolves around Clevatess, a powerful Dark Beast Lord whose reign is interrupted when he revives a fallen hero and unexpectedly adopts an orphaned humanoid baby—considered the last hope for a dying world.
