The anticipated anime adaptation of Kazune Kawahara’s manga, A Star Brighter Than the Sun (Taiyō Yori mo Mabushii Hoshi), is set to premiere on October 2nd at 11:56 p.m. (JST) on TBS and its affiliates. This news follows a worldwide premiere at Anime Expo in July.


A new promotional trailer offers a glimpse into the school life of main characters Sae Iwata and Kōki Kamishiro. The video also features the opening theme song, "Stellar Days," performed by singer-songwriter Motohiro Hata, who aimed to capture the excitement and subtle anxieties of first love in his song.


In addition to leads Minori Fujidera (Sae Iwata) and Yūki Ono (Kōki Kamishiro), a new cast has been revealed to portray key secondary characters (from left to right):

  1. Hina Yomiya as Hisui Onodera
  2. Taito Ban as Yōta Ayukawa
  3. Mutsumi Tamura as Mio Kagawa
  4. Ryōta Ōsaka as Yūshin Izawa

The anime's production is handled by Studio KAI and directed by Aya Kobayashi (Vinland Saga, Spy×Family). The scripts are by Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Kaguya-sama: Love is War), with character design by Jin Feng Zeng, and music by Natsumi Tabuchi and Miki Sakurai.

The original manga, which has sold over three million copies, follows childhood friends Sae and Kōki as their relationship becomes complicated by Sae's romantic feelings in high school. Viz Media released the first English volume on March 4th.
